It shares the Hillsdale Library which is at the border off Route 22. It is a great vacation area and farm community.

Copake is known for farms and lakes. The Town of Copake is north of the Town of Ancram, south of the Town of Hillsdale, West of Massachusetts and East of the Town of Taghkanic. The Copake community has a deep history, grounded in agriculture.  Today, as in the past, this community is warm and welcoming.  Made up of many residents whose families go back generations, the Town of Copake is also enriched by  newer residents, as well as many seasonal and weekend residents—many of whom have called Copake their second home for decades.

Copake was part of the 1686 Taconic Grant to Robert Livingston for about 400 acres (1.6 km2) of good land and 2,200 acres (8.9 km2) of woodland. After it was purchased from the Indians it turned out to be 160,000 acres (650 km2), and he established the English-style Livingston Manor. The manor extended well into what is now Massachusetts.
