Chatham NY History
Chatham’s early settlers were Dutch, but later Quakers and New Englanders arrived. It served as an industrial center and an important railroad junction between New York, Albany, Boston and Pittsfield.
It is home to the Crandell Theatre and host to the Columbia County Fair, located at the Chatham Fairgrounds. Other events at the fair grounds include an Auto Show, a 4th of July Celebration, a Civil War Reenactment in the Summer, and the Fire Fighters parade.
