Chatham is the home of the restored Crandell Theatre and the Columbia County Film Festival. Chatham also hosts the Columbia County Fair: Late August-Early September. Other events at the fair grounds include an Auto Show, a 4th of July Celebration, a Civil War Reenactment in the Summer and the Fire Fighters parade. The Chatham Brewing Co is another great attraction, a local brewery that ships throughout Columbia county and operates one of the top restaurants in Chatham. There’s also the Mac-Haydn Theatre which is a local venue with live performances during the summer. Chatham is always full of new local treasures to discover!

Luxury homes, estate and minifarms abound in the rural areas of Chatham that at one time had many small farms. Many are second homes of part-time residents from Metropolitan New York who often retire to the area. Also many local residents commute to the Albany Capital District.
