The general character of the town is elevated. The Taghkanic range traverses its eastern border. Its valleys are narrow but fertile. Geologically the town offers a great variety of formations and several mineral ores abound. The few streams include the outlet of Queechy Lake, Flat Brook and a branch of the Kline Kill. Queechy Lake is a small body of pure water in the northeastern part of the town. Interstate 90 passes through the town, connecting the Massachusetts Turnpike to the east with the New York State Thruway to the west. I-90 has one interchange in the town, with New York State Route 22. A few years ago a major truck stop was built which supplies considerable tax revenue for town without a major commercial tax base.
